Product Description:

This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs.

Indications:
For the treatment of candidasis of tinea infections of the skin, or for the treatment of pityriasis versicolor.

Product Description:

Ketoconazole (Latosil) 20mg/g Cream is a topical antifungal medication designed to treat various skin fungal infections. The active ingredient, Ketoconazole, is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent that works by interfering with the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of fungal cell membranes. This leads to the destruction of the fungal cells, preventing further infection and promoting healing. The 2% (20mg/g) concentration of Ketoconazole is specifically formulated for the effective treatment of dermatophyte infections and yeast infections.

The cream is packaged in a 5g tube, making it suitable for localized fungal infections. It is easy to apply, non-greasy, and quickly absorbed into the skin.

Key Features:

  • Active Ingredient: Ketoconazole 20mg/g (2% w/w)

  • Formulation: Topical cream for external use

  • Antifungal Action: Inhibits fungal growth by disrupting cell membrane integrity

  • Pack Size: 5g tube for targeted treatment

  • Effective for various fungal skin conditions: Treats conditions such as ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, and seborrheic dermatitis.

Indications:

Ketoconazole (Latosil) 20mg/g Cream is indicated for the treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin, including:

  1. Tinea (Ringworm): Caused by dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Microsporum, or Epidermophyton species.

  2. Athlete's Foot (Tinea Pedis): A common fungal infection affecting the feet.

  3. Jock Itch (Tinea Cruris): Fungal infection that occurs in the groin area.

  4. Seborrheic Dermatitis: A chronic condition leading to red, flaky, and greasy skin, often affecting the scalp, face, and body.

  5. Tinea Versicolor: A fungal infection that causes discolored patches on the skin, typically on the upper body.

  6. Candidiasis: Cutaneous candidiasis (yeast infections on the skin) caused by Candida species.

Dosage and Usage:

  1. Application: Clean and dry the affected area before applying the cream.

  2. Adults and Children (2 years and older): Apply a thin layer of Ketoconazole Cream to the affected area once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider.

  3. Duration of Use: Treatment should generally last for 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the severity of the infection. Even if symptoms improve, it is important to complete the full course of treatment to prevent relapse.

  4. Avoid Contact with Eyes and Mucous Membranes: Do not apply the cream to the eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes. If the cream accidentally gets into the eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water.

  5. Follow-Up: If symptoms do not improve after 2-4 weeks of treatment, or if the infection recurs, consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.

  1. Skin Irritation: This can include burning, itching, redness, or dryness at the site of application.

  2. Contact Dermatitis: In rare cases, users may develop an allergic reaction, leading to redness, swelling, or blistering at the site of application.
